THE FUTURE!

How do you think social media will change in the future?  What other trends would you add to the mix? Are they any specific technologies that you think will gain popularity or emerge?

I think that social media will continue to change in the future. If we think about when social media first started out, it was limited to computers and there was very few limited things you could do on these sites. Nowadays we have smartphone which allows to access social media sites wherever we are in the world. Some phones even have a "post to social media button" right on the phone. Every phone plan now comes with pretty much unlimited social media.

Seeing as new technology continues to come about in our world every single day you would be a fool to think that social media wouldn't change along it. Just look at the new website Google is spending millions on their new project Google +. There is constantly new aspects they are adding to these sites, the most recent being video chats to instant chats on Facebook. Google plus is even allowing you to share information and posts with only certain groups of friends.

I think that the social media trend will continue to grow on the smart phone side of thing, we are all about having these mini computers at our fingertips.

10 years ago if anyone was tell you to that we would be able to post picture at the click of a button on our cell phones, people would have told you YOU'RE CRAZY. So when i think about social media 10 years from now, i can't even imagine the types of apps and websites we are going to have :)

  1. It's very interesting to see the development of where we were and how we progressed in the technology of social media and networking. Many don't really know or remember the years that all of this began, the inception of Facebook and Twitter or going back further, the World Wide Web. In many ways, we take all of this progression in stride and as we move forward, and as technology sky rockets toward more advancements, we will also embrace the new changes as if they have been a part of our social media networking forever.

  2. I really liked and learned a lot from the history of social media.
I also agree that there is no end in site for social media in the future. The creation and ideas for apps are currently never ending. If you can think it, you can almost app it.
The social media usage on cellphones and smartphones is pretty impressive also. Having a button that goes straight to social media is something that I would have never thought would be on a phone and yet here it is. It is almost like every phone will be like this in the future.

  4. Hey Katie! Great job on your blog this week. It was very interesting to see the time line of how social media has progressed over the years. It was very educational and I learned a lot about social media i didn't know yet. Other than social media becoming more portable, did you have any thoughts on the different things it will be able to accomplish in the future?
