How do you think social media will change in the future? What other trends would you add to the mix? Are they any specific technologies that you think will gain popularity or emerge?
I think that social media will continue to change in the future. If we think about when social media first started out, it was limited to computers and there was very few limited things you could do on these sites. Nowadays we have smartphone which allows to access social media sites wherever we are in the world. Some phones even have a "post to social media button" right on the phone. Every phone plan now comes with pretty much unlimited social media.
Seeing as new technology continues to come about in our world every single day you would be a fool to think that social media wouldn't change along it. Just look at the new website Google is spending millions on their new project Google +. There is constantly new aspects they are adding to these sites, the most recent being video chats to instant chats on Facebook. Google plus is even allowing you to share information and posts with only certain groups of friends.
I think that the social media trend will continue to grow on the smart phone side of thing, we are all about having these mini computers at our fingertips.
10 years ago if anyone was tell you to that we would be able to post picture at the click of a button on our cell phones, people would have told you YOU'RE CRAZY. So when i think about social media 10 years from now, i can't even imagine the types of apps and websites we are going to have :)

Social Change.
Do you think social media has the potential to bring about real social change ?
I defiantly think that social media has the potential to bring about real social change, and i already think it has. Twitter and Facebook are the way that our generation communicates nowadays. Social Media has changed the way that social interaction occurs between humans. I know personally I have not sent a letter or even made a phone call over an email, or Facebook message in a very long time. Social media has eliminated the time we need to spend face to face or in person. You are now able to chat with anyone in the world at the push of a button. Compare this to ten years ago when you sent letters that took ages to get to your pen-pal on the other side of the world. Now it literally takes seconds to send a message, photos, or video of them now. This is all thanks to social media.
Facebook, Twitter and Youtube have allowed for thousands of dollars to be raised for charity and disaster relief, something that was unheard of just five years ago. Youtube has allowed for everyday people to have the chance to share their talents with the entire world. Many people have gotten famous from posting videos on these sites such as Justin Bieber, Soulja Boy and Greyson Chance. Before youtube there wasn't a place that artists could be recognized who otherwise might now have had the chance. Another example of how social change has come about from social media is the ability for everyday people to interact with their icons. Every celebrity, even the Prime Minister has a Facebook or twitter page that allows us to ask questions and be on a personal level with the people you look up to. We no longer have to just see these people on a movie screen or in a magazine.
The point is that social media has already brought about a lot of social change, and it will only continue to bring more as it develops. Social Media is a staple in our world today, but whether that is a positive or negative thing is a whole other blog ;)
